Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applications for a CU Book Store Distribution Center Manager! This position functions as the general manager of the CU Book Store Distribution Center and is responsible for shipping and receiving needs for the CU Book Store. This role is responsible for ensuring established procedures set within the department are met and followed. The position will supervise multiple full-time university staff and will also supervise temporary and student employees.

The CU Book Store offers a convenient place for students to prepare for classes with a large textbook department featuring rental, used and new textbooks as well as custom published materials and required course supplies. You can also find a full range of office products and school supplies to support your academic and professional pursuits.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Supervise Warehouse personnel:
  • This position maintains staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety practices and ensure all warehouse staff adhere to those practices.
  • Prioritize staff duties to ensure efficient flow of merchandise being shipped in and out.
  • This position is responsible for submitting time sheets and approving leave as applicable.
  • Determine the staffing needed for the Book Store distribution center.
  • Accountable for all shipping and receiving issues.
  • Monitor Separation of duties to ensure bookstore practices are followed to ensure financial safety.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for staff to facilitate efficient flow of merchandise.
Coordinate and manage the Book Store shipping and receiving operations:
  • Analyze and determine if additional hours of operation are needed to handle the timely processing of merchandise.
  • Maintain CMV driver’s license and monitor staff members who need CMV licenses.
  • Coordinate and manage handling of merchandise during the receiving and shipping processes.
  • Coordinate and manage the transfer of product to the Book Store.
  • Coordinate the receipt and processing of incoming merchandise.
Freight Management:
  • Work with buyers to specify order ship dates to maintain optimal levels of merchandise at the Warehouse.
  • Work with CU DC to coordinate needed storage space as well as transportation needs.
  • Planning and coordination with shipping companies to anticipate future shipments of incoming merchandise.
Implement an annual and ongoing analysis of freight company effectiveness and rates:
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness, price, and level of service of existing freight carriers or possible new competitors.
  • Review freight bills to ensure correct charges are billed for incoming and outgoing freight.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $59,000 per year.

What We Require

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Four years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

What You Will Need

  • Strong Interpersonal skills, Management, Human Resource skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • 5+ years of warehouse experience.
  • Experience with ERP.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
