The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $21 to $26.93 per hour, based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We Require


  • 2 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or related work handling public records requests, supporting multiple attorneys, or working at a law firm
  • An Associate’s degree from a legal studies/paralegal program OR certificate of completion from a legal studies/paralegal program
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in any subject + either a certificate of completion or an Associate’s degree in legal studies/paralegal studies may substitute for the required experience

Job Contributions


  • Assist attorneys in researching statutes, legal cases, and other sources for legal precedents and case applicability utilizing computerized research tools
  • Analyze, organize, review, and verify records and other documents obtained through the discovery process
  • Review, organize, index, redact, and date stamps pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and use in court
  • Attend continuing legal education seminars and in-house training
  • Produce initial drafts of pleadings, motions, briefs, memos, discovery requests and responses, reports, and correspondences
  • Assist attorneys with discovery, witness interviews, court proceedings, and pretrial/trial preparation, including preparation of witness summaries, depositions, organizing exhibits, and securing evidence and documentation such as subpoenas and witness notifications
  • Utilize software and case management systems for litigation support and trial use


Working Conditions


  • The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs (testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement)
  • High volume, fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds floor to waist and push or pull for a distance of up to 100 feet
