Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:The Crime Analyst identifies patterns and trends, developing patrol deployment and investigative strategies, assessing strategic operations, and providing process and impact recommendations. Aids in the efficient deployment of resources and increases apprehensions and the clearance of criminal cases as well as ensure efficient, effective, and proactive police activities relative to the reduction of crime and social harm. This position works under the direct supervision of the Investigations Lieutenant, and indirectly to the Assistant Police Chief and the Police Chief.

WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm; Occasional After Hours Needed

Minimum Required Experience, Education, And Training Requirements
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is required; a primary focus must be in mathematics, statistical research, criminology, or directly a related discipline.
  • Four (4) years or more in law enforcement specifically as a research specialist/crime analyst may be substituted for the degree requirements. Such an exception to the degree requirements
must be with a large law enforcement or public safety agency (e.g., Missouri Highway Patrol, the FederalBureau of Investigation, etc.).
Four (4) years or more of directly related experience in criminal justice planning is required.
One (1) or more year's direct experience using statistical analysis software is required.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
Certified Law Enforcement/Crime Analyst preferred.
Previous experience working with police-related data and knowledge of processes and procedures used to obtain data, conduct analysis and compile statistics is preferred.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be highly engaged in the department's goals, and be able to work cooperatively with all members of leadership in achieving those goals.
Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate excellent customer service to the department's internal and external customers.
Must possess no felony convictions, and have no serious misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years.
Tattoos, Scarification, Body Art, and Body Modifications must meet City of Branson Employee Appearance at Work policy.
Training course completion on the proper use of various police equipment required within 30 days of hire
Must possess a valid driver's license and must be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position
Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must participate in drug and alcohol screenings and background investigations including criminal history, polygraph examination, and psychological examination.
