POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs the maintenance and repairs to the company’s mobile cranes and related cargo handling equipment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required

• Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
• Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays
• Must have (2) two years of experience in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of Liebherr or similar cargo cranes covering diesel, electrical, hydraulic and computer systems.
• Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Intermediate English
• Possess strong knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance, repair and replacement of parts.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
• Liebherr crane certification will be accepted in lieu of Basic Electrical certification or Electronics certification with high voltage systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine checks on mobile cranes and automatic spreader bars prior to cargo operations
• Work alternating shifts (day/night) with other crane mechanics during vessel operations to ensure cranes and spreader bars have limited down time
• Perform preventative maintenance on the company’s mobile cranes and automatic spreader bars including inspection, fluid and filter replacement and lubrication as outlined in the PM schedule.
• Perform periodic inspections on the boom and structural components
• Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs to the company’s mobile cranes and automatic spreader bars including diesel, electrical, hydraulic and computer systems and components.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, frequently push and pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
• The employee is continuously required to talk, hear, stand, walk, reach forward and grasp
• Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable
• The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crawl, twist, reach overhead, pinch, exercise repetitive foot motion and eye-hand-foot coordination
• The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, bend forward, squat, exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion, finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Reports directly to the Port Captain & Mechanics Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any position.
CONDITIONS:

• Occasionally exposed to dust, fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• Exposed to moderate vibration through hands, when using power tools and throughout body when operating crane.
• Exposure to heights
• Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
