Job Duties: Supervisory position in the adult and juvenile division of Court Services. This position is responsible for supervising a team of officers who supervise adult offenders placed on probation by the Court for both misdemeanor and felony convictions. This position may also supervise officers who supervise juvenile offenders placed on probation by the Court. The chosen candidate will carry a partial caseload of adult probation clients plus write Pre-Sentence Investigation reports while also being responsible for the direct supervision of a team of staff. Completion of risk/needs assessments, caseload supervision responsibilities, writing PSIs, preparing and proofing affidavits to the court in addition to ensuring officers’ compliance with office protocol and procedure will be included in daily tasks. Representing Court Services by participation in community committees will also be required. Additional duties include interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training of new officers. Candidates must be able to work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.


Required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree is required with preference given to degrees in a social services field. This position requires attention to detail and strong written/oral communication skills in addition to computer skills. Ability to work both independently and with a team is required as is the ability to interact with clients and stakeholders in a professional manner. Ability to supervise staff and handle confidential personnel information is required.


Preferred qualifications: Minimum of two years of experience working in the field of probation and/or corrections is preferred. Risk/needs assessment and EPICS certification as well as knowledge of evidence-based practices is preferred. Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations and multi-task is important. Strong leadership and decision-making skills are desired. Internal candidates may be considered first.
