The work you will do in this role affects members of our community who come to the court to have their cases resolved. We need people who want to impact their communities, value OJD’s efforts to remove barriers to access justice services, and welcome interacting with the public.
We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive team and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds to apply. We consider relevant work and lived experience and education, plus any transferable skills and abilities that may meet our qualifications or the skills and attributes we need for this position. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by
our work and mission
.
Benefits to you
  • We conduct a pay equity analysis for candidates new to OJD based on their education and experience before every offer of employment.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.

Position Highlights
We are hiring a Family Court Facilitator (Court Facilitator) at the
Josephine County Circuit Court
to help manage program services for the Family Court Unit at the Josephine County Circuit Court and regionally.

You will assist self-represented litigants navigate complex case issues. This will include providing accurate instruction (without giving legal advice) as they complete or process their legal documents, making referrals to legal and community resources, and acting as liaison between litigants, judges, court colleagues, and community partners.
You will work directly with people who are facing challenging life circumstances or stressful situations and will explain court policy and procedures to help these people navigate through dissolution (divorce) cases, custody issues, restraining orders, or other Protection Orders filings. You could also have direct contact with all parties to a case while the case moves through Oregon’s court system.
In doing your work, you will input case information (including data entry on the case management system, scanning/scan review of documents, and calendaring of cases), assist in creating and modifying forms packets, brochures, and literature for family law matters, develop and maintain spreadsheets for statistical reports, and create quarterly, year-end, and special reports. Because of your expert role in gathering information, you will also provide or facilitate training.
Your other duties will include coordinating with or participating in local and statewide committees, coalitions, and/or work groups as well as working with community partners and the Southern Oregon Facilitator Initiative (SOFI) to increase access to justice. Most importantly, you will be helping members of our community as a professional resource about family law case matters.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
