Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Job Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will help individuals with physical, mental or developmental conditions to recover, develop and maintain the skills necessary for daily living and working. The COTA will work alongside Occupational Therapists to provide treatments, assessments, and therapy sessions customized to individual needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain patient confidentiality and safety, including proper infection control
• Monitor and document clients’ progress during therapy sessions
• Design and assist with modified activities and exercises for patients with physical and mental impairments
• Coordinate with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals as needed
• Perform initial patient evaluations under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Educate patients and their families/caregivers about therapeutic strategies, objectives, and outcomes
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients’ goals and therapy needs
• Implement therapy sessions to promote fine motor skills, mobility, hand-eye coordination, and overall function

Qualifications and Skills:

• Ability to work independently and as part of the therapy team
• Knowledgeable about different physical, mental or developmental conditions and their treatments
• Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice
• Active certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Associate Degree (minimum) from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Proficient in using computer systems for documentation and tracking patient progress
