Role Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. As a COTA, you will play a critical role in assisting Occupational Therapists (OTs) in providing quality care to individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive challenges. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and helping them achieve their maximum level of independence.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and documentation: Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' functional abilities, limitations, and progress. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of treatment sessions, patient response, and goal achievement. Collaborate with the OT to review and modify treatment plans as necessary.
• Treatment implementation: Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist. Work with patients to improve their daily living skills, functional mobility, and overall independence. Provide therapeutic interventions focusing on areas such as self-care, fine motor skills, sensory integration, and cognitive abilities.
• Patient education and support: Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies to maximize functional independence. Provide emotional support and encourage patients to actively participate in their rehabilitation process.
• Compliance and safety: Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, professional standards, and facility policies in all aspects of practice. Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, maintaining cleanliness and proper maintenance of therapy equipment.
• Collaborative teamwork: Work closely with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, speech therapists, and nurses, to provide comprehensive patient care. Participate in team meetings, contribute to treatment planning, and communicate effectively to ensure coordinated and effective rehabilitation programs.
• Treatment sessions and activities: Guide patients through therapeutic activities and exercises designed to improve motor skills, coordination, and strength. Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive devices as needed. Teach patients techniques for energy conservation and injury prevention in their daily activities.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure or certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Minimum 1 years of experience as a COTA, preferably in a clinical or healthcare setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and interventions
• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
