The Wisconsin Correctional Center System is currently recruiting to fill a Food Service Leader 3 position. This position is based out of the Oregon Correctional Center in Oregon, WI.

Position Summary


This position is responsible for the food service operation at the Oregon Correctional Center. Direct the production of meals, train and supervise inmate food service workers; plan meals and procure supplies; care for and clean kitchen equipment; maintain food inventory and proper sanitation standards. May work holidays and weekends, and other times as needed and/or directed. This position will use computer software in the preparation of food estimates.

Salary Information


This position is in pay schedule and range 03-13 with an hourly wage starting at $21.96.


Pay rates on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details


Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Working in a food service environment including handling, preparing, and cooking/baking of food as well as following standardized recipes
  • Leading or overseeing the work of others (e.g. training/instructing, assigning /reviewing work, etc.)
  • Maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards
