Job Description

This position is eligible for a $3,000.00 Recruitment Bonus.

Correctional officers serve as the backbone to the correctional system. Their careers are both challenging and rewarding as they balance their security mission with the mission of helping those incarcerated reform themselves into a successful, law-abiding citizen upon their reentry.
Once fully trained, CO's can make a lasting impact on an incarcerated person's life while also helping maintain safe & secure correctional facilities. New CO's earn a full time salary as they go through their training, and the State offers one of the most competitive benefits packages in the private or public sector.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency.

Additional Qualification Requirements

All applicants must be able to successfully pass the following:

  • Psychological tests
  • Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain a Commercial Driver's License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
  • A urinalysis screen for drugs.
  • A post-offer health screen administered by an institutional physician.
  • All new employee training during the probationary period, including local orientation, new employee orientation, and emergency preparedness training.
  • A background investigation check.
