Job Description

The Corporate Controller is a core participant in senior management team planning and activities related to accounting and budgeting and they are responsible for effectively managing the monthly accounting close process for the business unit ensuring financial statements are prepared and are both timely and accurate.


Responsibilities:

  • Take an active role with the leadership team
  • Oversee maintenance of financial systems and controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data while ensuring proper segregation of duties.
  • Provide cost information for newly developed products.
  • Communicate key information to top executive management monthly or on a needed basis. Actively engage in leadership meetings with the entire team, providing valuable insights and support to other company efforts.
  • Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes and tools, and related business process and information integrations, ensuring that practices are both in line with the overall goals of the organization and are efficient and effective.
  • Manage the month-end accounting close process, ensuring accurate and timely results that are in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Performs cost accounting and cost analysis.
  • Develop /use month-end inventory evaluations.
  • Review and approve general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, bi-weekly payroll, and financial statements to ensure that they are prepared properly and follow-up on any unusual items and be able to explain variance drivers.
  • Establish and maintain financial and statistical analysis for Key Performance Indicators.
  • Manage the Accounting departments and develop staff. Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training, and development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Provide leadership and development support to the team in training, feedback, encouragement, and hands-on assistance.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external auditors and regulators and provide all client assistance and audit schedules requested.
  • Assist or provide information for annual budgeting and forecasting purposes for accrual-based profit and loss statements, working capital and cash flow.


Position Qualifications:

Education/Learning Experience:

  • Desired: MBA or other advanced degree. CPA or CMA
  • Required: Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting/finance

Work Experience:

  • Required: 10+ years of progressive accounting and Controllership experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role
