Job Description

The Corporate Banker II (CBII) assumes the overall responsibility for the development and management of their client portfolio. The CBII is responsible for marketing a range of products and services to large corporate clients ($250 million in sales and greater). These clients frequently have multiple banks and a large portion of the portfolio will be debt participations with other banks. The CBII also ensures retention of existing client assets and growth in those relationships while continuously assessing and managing credit quality. The CBII will play the lead role in the growth and development of the corporate banking portfolio and the banks market share in this defined market. The Banker’s primary focus will be to identify and sell/cross-sell commercial banking products to the existing client base, and appropriate prospects. The CBII will build deposits, loans, and fee income as well as refer appropriate customers and prospects to other bank partners.

Position Accountabilities

  • Works with Treasury staff to solicit treasury services and deposit
  • Ensures the proper portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship, maintaining compliance with established credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory
  • Establish and continually develop a deep knowledge base of corporate banking products and services, capital markets, corporate finance, foreign exchange, loan policy, documentation, structuring and regulatory
  • Collect and maintain financial information on clients and interact with them to identify needs and appropriate Union products & services to sell
  • Participate in organizations and projects to establish referral contacts and Centers of Influence (COI) within the
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate hold level disciplines & best practices with in the syndicated loan markets.
  • Ensures that own work is in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations and
  • Provides financial and strategic advice to clients and profitably sells appropriate products and services to those prospects and
  • Assist in mentoring teammates, to include credit analysis, financial spreading and

  • Identify, underwrite, and manage High Risk Borrowers (HRB’s), and all the regulatory implications of Shared National Credits (SNC’s).

Organizational Relationship

This position typically reports to a Corporate Banking Managing Director or Group Leader or Regional President

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or finance preferred or equivalent banking experience
  • Previous Experience with Debt Syndications Market
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial banking experience and a proven track record of generating loan, deposit and fee income

Knowledge & Skills

  • Possesses excellent C & I lending and product knowledge and organizational
  • Ability to work well in a sales driven environment
  • Very strong professional writing skills, can articulate a client’s business needs and business model succinctly and accurately in credit packages
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving and excellent collaboration and inter-personal communication
  • Proven track record with sales and new business development in conjunction with exceeding sales
  • Strong credit skills
  • Ability to make & support knowledgeable loan decisions based on information supplied by the customer verified through a rigorous underwriting process, strong ability to structure loans, strong credit
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time without
  • Proficient computer skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Explorer, Windows Explorer and Outlook, as well as Adobe and others.
  • Knowledge of the Capital Markets
  • Ability to independently manage a specialty line of lending and complex lending
