Artemis is seeking a full-time, versatile Copy Editor with demonstrated experience writing and editing engaging content for large-scale federal programs. To be successful in this role, this individual must use strategic communications consulting, research, interviews, journalistic skills and storytelling to advance clients goals and objectives. The Copy Editor will be responsible for reviewing a variety of products including, but not limited to, fact sheets, Frequently Asked Questions, presentations, social media, blog posts, user guides, quick reference guides, video scripts, products for senior executives, project management documents, reports and more. The Copy Editor must also have strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience translating complex information into plain language. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This mid-level, full-time position is currently fully remote. However, the Copy Editor may be expected to work onsite in Washington, D.C. full-time upon client request.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Implement edits provided by clients and other team members effectively and quickly.
  • Write, review and edit content in compliance with AP style and other federal content guidelines.
  • Translate complex messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Review documents for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Ensure content conveys critical information and reflects key messaging in a standardized and consistent voice and tone.
  • Gather, analyze, fact check and interpret data from various sources.
  • Assist with Aptive’s new business development writing needs.
  • Write, edit and manage a broad range of print and digital communications materials.
  • Develop themes, concepts, messaging and distribution tactics for marketing materials.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies is ideal.
  • At least 5 years of experience in publishing and editing.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, D.C. (or other locations in the United States) as needed.
