Job Description
The Coordinator of Advising supports the recruitment and retention of first-year Exploratory Studies students and transfer students, under the direction of the Director of Advising and the First-Year Experience and in collaboration with the Admissions Office. Duties related to Exploratory Studies recruitment and retention include meeting with visiting prospects, hosting and/or participating in events (e.g., Accepted Students Day, Open Houses, Bulldog Bash, etc.), corresponding with prospects and their families, serving as an academic advisor, and serving as a liaison between these students and the faculty in academic programs. Duties related to recruitment and retention of transfer students include meeting with prospective transfer students to develop a course schedule and review timeline to graduation, and providing ongoing advising support, as needed, for efficient degree completion. The Coordinator also assists with implementing advisor-advisee assignments and course scheduling for first-year students, and offers training and ongoing support to academic advisors.


Qualifications


  • Excellent computer skills (prefer experience with Ellucian Colleague and D2L Brightspace)
  • Prior experience as an academic advisor preferred
  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related program preferred
  • Dedicated to the mission of a small, Catholic, liberal arts institution
  • Prior experience working with faculty in a higher education setting preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and making presentations
  • Prior experience with recruitment preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with a variety of state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations
  • Sensitive to issues of ethnicity, disability and diversity
  • Schedule requires occasional evening and weekend hours
