Description


Job Overview


The Coordinator Curriculum Integration will be responsible for the development, management, and integration of district curriculum, instructional priorities, teacher and administrator professional learning, and identification of recommended resources for the assigned program area. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in curriculum design, program development, and implementation to support Gifted and Talented students and promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning.


Position DescriptionThe Curriculum Integration Coordinator will be responsible for the development, management, and integration of district curriculum, instructional priorities, teacher and administrator professional learning, and identification of recommended resources for the assigned program area. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in the area of Gifted and Talented curriculum design, program development (including but not limited to Genius Hour, and Texas Performance Standards Project), and implementation to promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


Curriculum & Program Management


  • Lead the planning, development, evaluation, revision, and maintenance of integrated problem-based learning opportunities in K- 12 Gifted and Talented curriculum in all service areas
  • Articulate, support, and oversee implementation of district instructional priorities aligned to the District’s philosophy for Teaching and Learning
  • Facilitate, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of GT Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Lessons
  • Collaborate with curriculum team members to create and revise curriculum, assessment, and enrichment documents
  • Provide training and support for K-12 TPSP implementation
  • Evaluate and monitor district-wide innovation hour implementation including the development of innovation hour curriculum as needed
  • Assist in facilitating special Gifted and Talented events including the District TPSP showcase which extend and showcase excellence in education
  • Develop, monitor, maintain, and evaluate the GT summer camp curriculum including camper experiences
  • Maintain working knowledge of developments and research related to gifted and talented students
  • Facilitate, monitor, and evaluate the integration of TPSP within current K-12 content units
  • Develop, monitor, maintain, and evaluate Gifted and Talented curriculum program guides, instructional resources, and programming
  • Conduct Gifted and Talented Program curriculum evaluations on an annual basis and make recommendations for improvement
Instructional Leadership


  • Work cooperatively with principals and instructional specialists to integrate the Gifted and Talented Program into the whole instructional program
  • Evaluate the implementation of the curriculum and Gifted and Talented programs using multiple data points including instructional walk-throughs and assessments
  • Advise and support district-wide curriculum events and contests related to the District’s Gifted and Talented instructional programs
  • Design, coordinate and conduct professional learning and presentations for teachers, district personnel, parents, and other stakeholders aligned to best practices for instruction and adult learning
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in various stakeholder meetings including but not limited to monthly GT Parent Advisory Subcommittees, monthly Champions of Gifted Services (COGS) meetings, weekly GT Department Initiative Workstreams, weekly GT Department Meetings, and other District Meetings as assigned
  • Collaborate with district and campus administrators to ensure implementation of the District’s curriculum
  • Participate in instructional walk-throughs and facilitate campus support structures in collaboration with the campus principal and district leaders
  • Monitor and prepare reports for district and campus compliance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students
  • Facilitate the use of data to determine student progress, make instructional and programmatic decisions, and evaluate curricular needs
Administrative & Data Support


  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies
  • Develop and/or update required district documents including the District Improvement Plan and District Strategic Plan
  • Coordinate instructional program components, support needs, and materials for the purpose of meeting student needs while complying with district and/or program guidelines
  • Manage the maintenance and use of the curriculum within the learning management system
  • Monitor and maintain student achievement data, including Gifted and Talented related curricular assessments, and provide regular updates to applicable stakeholders to promote the success of all students

Qualification Requirements

  • Valid Texas Gifted and Talented Certification Preferred (required within the first year of hire)
  • Minimum of 3 years in instructional leadership, campus or central office preferred
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment
  • Minimum of 5 years as classroom teacher of gifted and talented students

May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
