Summary

We are seeking an experienced cook who is familiar with running a preschool meal program.



Duties

Here's what you'll do on a daily basis:

• Serve meals to each classroom on time and at the appropriate temperature
• Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
• Take daily classroom counts
• Prepare meals and snacks for all classrooms
• Watch and sanitize all dishes
• Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
• Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
• Remove trash and recyclables daily
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
• Make meal alternatives according to the allergy list
• Work with the administrative team for approval
• Organize and put away all groceries, food orders, and no-food orders
• Prepare morning snacks, lunch, and supper according to CACFP guidelines and the posted menu
• Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served meeting CACFP guidelines

Requirements

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
• Be able to lift up to 40 pounds
• Read the staff policy and employment agreement and sign that you understand its context
• Complete required food and nutrition training
• Fill out the required forms to be kept in your personnel file
• Take classes in menu planning, food safety, and nutrition, other food-related topics
• Wear a hairnet and gloves while in the kitchen
• Pass Criminal Background Test
