Job Description

Position: Controller
Location: Carey, OH
Duration: Direct Hire
Compensation: $120,000-150,000 / year BOE
Job Summary: This role requires a seasoned professional to oversee the accounting and finance operations (including P&L responsibility) of a manufacturing facility. The position relies on extensive experience and sound judgment to effectively plan and achieve goals, handling intricate tasks along the way. As a manager, this individual will be responsible for overseeing the plant accounting department. They will typically report to a Plant Manager or Regional Operations Director, while also having a dotted line reporting structure to the Corporate Controller.
Job Requirements:

  • Collaborate with the location or Operations Manager to develop the annual business plan, encompassing departmental budgets, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain standard cost information for each manufactured or sold product, including work centers and machine rates. Conduct audits of bills of material, routings, and standard costing, while establishing machine overhead and labor rates.
  • Prepare and review weekly and monthly financial results, establishing both short-term and long-term forecasts.
  • Generate or authorize monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L reports, ensuring the accuracy of financial data recording.
  • Take responsibility for local tax filings, including property tax, sales tax, and other applicable filings.
  • Participate in the development of accounting/finance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Approve expenses, expense reports, and appropriation requests, while also developing and monitoring the budget within the area of responsibility.
  • Effectively manage and lead the accounting and/or finance department in assigned location(s). This includes responsibilities such as personnel management, including hiring, setting targets, conducting performance reviews, and fostering professional development.
  • Manage fixed assets and monitor capital and major expense projects. Additionally, support inventory management through physical inventories and cycle counting.


Job Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in various Windows applications is expected, including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Some travel may be required on an occasional basis.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment are demonstrated.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in plant accounting and/or finance is essential, preferably within the automotive industry, showcasing progressive growth in responsibilities and knowledge. Familiarity with and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and procedures is necessary.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred.
  • The position entails occasional exposure to noise, temperature variations, moving machinery, fumes, and other factors typically found in a plant environment.
  • Holding a CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.
