The McGrath Group, a closely held family office operating 20 functionally related companies, is searching for an experienced accounting controller. The company has grown substantially in the past few years and is building a corporate team to oversee the operation.
As the Controller you will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the oversight of a group of the companies including but not limited to providing daily support for the accounting managers, performing agreed upon procedures for internal audit, preparing and reviewing various financial reports, and overseeing daily accounting operations, including the accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll departments. Responsibilities – Controller:

• Establish policies and procedures within the department as needed
• Prepare internal and external financial reports
• Manage cash flow
• Locate and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Manage various business unit accounting records
• Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
• Develop and monitor business performance
• Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
• Manage and complete audits
• Analyze monthly reporting for management
• Maintain and establish policies and procedures for effectively recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions
• Oversee daily accounting processing
• Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
• Lead and direct all accounting operational functions

Requirements - Controller:

• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
• 6 - 8 years of related experience with 3 years of supervisory experience
• Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Strong experience working with QuickBooks
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word proficiency
