The Opportunity


This Contracts Officer I position within the Office of Research is primarily responsible for independent support and administrative tasks associated with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other research-related agreements.


Responsibilities


  • Draft or review contract modifications received from sponsors; route for internal reviews, approvals, and signature, as needed.
  • Intake and triage of contracts and provide notice to Office of Research award management team for the establishment of new projects. Ensure all documents and information are filled for new project establishment or modifications to existing projects.
  • High level of customer service to investigators and staff at UCF.
  • Serve as primary contact for investigators and college and department research administrators in all matters related to contract negotiation administrators' support.
  • Coordinate agreement reviews by other Office of Research components and other University units. Incorporate edits as required to comply with applicable policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Maintain a fundamental understanding of regulations, policies, and guidelines governing sponsored programs. Remain current with developments in University-sponsored contracting and research administration through participation in professional development. This includes development activities such as attendance at professional meetings, in-house webinars, and other informational sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with special initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain the ability to work independently, both efficiently and accurately, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience with data analysis and Excel.
  • Excellent demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical analysis abilities.
  • Previous experience in research administration and drafting and reviewing contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of UCF policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
