Job Description

Emerge Community Solutions is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that exist to connect life with opportunity in under-served communities through entrepreneurship training, life skills mentoring, leadership development, community revitalization, and health and wellness initiatives.

We are looking to add to our team with a skilled professional who can effectively demonstrate and distribute information to youth and adolescents.

Position Summary

We are seeking Contract Facilitators in your area for our Teen Pregnancy Prevention and HIV/STI Awareness Program. Our program is funded in collaboration with Alabama Department of Public Health through the Alabama Personal Responsibility Education Program (APREP). Contract Facilitators serve as teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection prevention programs instructors using evidence-base curricula. The Facilitator will provide these services on an as needed basis.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of training methods and needs assessment
  • Facilitate the program’s curricula, and fulfill the capacity of a facilitator while providing a trusting, open, and non-judgmental relationship with all youth participating in the program. Consistently render educational support, collaboration, and mentoring
  • Attend and participate in training (both, required and optional) provided by ADPH (Alabama Department of Public Health) in support of the program
  • See Attached Curriculum Expectations
  • Ensure program compliance

Sexual Health Program Expectations

  • Competently operate audio visual equipment
  • Be non-bias in your delivery of program material.
  • Provide the approved evidence-based APREP curriculum to youth to prevent teen pregnancy and STI’s.
  • Ability to establish rapport with youth.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain data for program monitoring, evaluation, and improvement.
  • Use appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with people of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as diverse sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Through the APREP program, the Coordinators and Facilitators emphasize both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STI’s).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (i.e., non-judgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful, respectful, courteousness).
  • Demonstrate expert presentation skills

Requirements

  • Knowledge of curricula facilitation strategies, public speaking, excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, creative problem solving, ability to coordinate multiple tasks and follow detailed instructions
  • Strong record-keeping skills.
  • The ideal candidate is self-directed; works well with a team, motivates others, and values cultural differences.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth groups and organizations
  • Possess superb interpersonal skills
