What you will do

Working under the framework of Johnson Controls Continuous Improvement system, will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize, and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems. Own manufacturing sign offs and process readiness for new product introduction.

How you will do it

  • Partner with engineer team for SKU reduction rationalization
  • Document improvement process learning and shares best practices with other Black Belts.
  • Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant.
  • Ensures Process Owner involvement in SOW development and team leadership.
  • Owns capital request needs for capacity planning and process improvements
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant C.I. Roadmap, driving breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance that balances resources between internal plant efficiency and external customer-focused effectiveness projects through 1. Just DO It improvements, 2. Six Sigma projects, and 3. Lean Implementation projects.
  • Assists Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and helps to drive changes when needed.
  • Perform safety observations/inspections as required.
  • Identifies and brings forward to Champion new project opportunities.
  • Work with cross functional design engineer to improve manufacturability on older designs
  • Is accountable to deliver the plant annual CI goals.
  • Responsible for manufacturing sign offs and readiness for new production introduction
  • Establishes C.I. Profit Plan and subsequent Forecast goals; Drives team to achieve.
  • Responsible for IDP and succession planning for all C.I. resources, including Lean Implementers and Black Belts.
  • Assess the Current state of the plant’s Operations; Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan.
  • Coaches CI team, including Plant Staff, Lean Implementers, Black Belts, and Green Belts, to apply correct approach /DMAIC tools for improvement.
  • Drive drawing updates & improvements with design engineering team
  • Using standard tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals.
  • Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP’s), and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them.

What we look for

  • Has at least a certification as a Green Belt, and has received certification as a Lean implementer
  • Has sufficient experience within the Company to be able to understand the organization and its business processes
  • Has proven leadership skills and able to manage both vertically and horizontally
  • Has demonstrated high-level performance in current and previous positions
  • Has shown initiative, the desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations
  • Has proven effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority
  • Possesses basic statistical knowledge and the ability to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects
  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in related discipline and min 5 years’ experience. In the absence of a four (4) year degree in an appropriate field of study, a minimum of nine years’ experience is required.
