Join our External Relations team as our Consumer Insights Manager. The consumer insights manager will better connect our communications and policy asks with the community’s understanding and perceptions of hunger. Fostering a client-and-community centered culture of learning, the manager will lead hunger polling, brand awareness tracking and message testing for our large and growing food bank. The insights will support data-informed strategic planning, advocacy efforts and storytelling.
The manager will play a key role in tracking progress toward a to-be-announced hunger moonshot. These efforts will be central to our thought leadership strategy and our efforts to end hunger together.
Work Schedule: Hybrid, Full-Time, 40 hours / week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Public Polling:
  • Work with teams across the organization to ensure cross-department integration and learning occurs.
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete updates to annual metrics that support data-informed strategic planning and decision making.
  • Collaborate with advocacy team to develop and implement research agenda that advances and informs local, state, and national public policy efforts to reduce and eliminate hunger.
  • Plan and implement all phases of survey and polling work to help the food bank understand what the community thinks about hunger and our shared work to end it.
Audience Insight Gathering:
  • Collaborate with data and analytics team to produce reports and present consumer insights effectively.
  • Track use of the emergency food system and SHH brand awareness and sentiment in an ongoing way.
  • Test positioning and communications approaches to ensure our communications are clear and inspire action.
  • Lead food bank efforts to effectively segment our audiences and communicate in a more targeted way.
  • Conduct online and in-person focus groups.
  • Build our neighbor-insight gathering capabilities.
Must Have:
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office, Office 365 and the ability to learn other computer software programs.
  • A familiarity with advocacy work and the ways in which research and data influence policy discussions.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed and valued.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • A combination of education and experience generally attained through a bachelor’s degree in a related field(s) (research development) and a minimum of 5-year experience in consumer insight gathering, audience segmentation, and/or public opinion polling.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and follow through on multiple daily tasks and projects.
  • An understanding of consumer insight gathering and research processes, from design to execution to evaluation and presentation of findings.
Nice to Have:
  • Bilingual in other languages highly desired, (Spanish, Somali, Hmong).

Starting Pay Range: $60,000 – $70,000 USD annually or more / Dependent on Qualifications and Experience.
