Construction Cost Estimator, Gigafactory Nevada

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an experienced Construction Cost Estimator with commercial/industrial construction background to support Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada, Sparks. This position will be directly responsible for planning and executing project estimates as part of Construction team throughout the various design stages.

What You’ll Do

• Identify risks within the estimate and drive the contingency development process
• Support the continued development of estimating processes and templates.
• Lead ad-hoc cost studies to provide information to assist with rapid decision-making
• Conduct bid reviews
• Estimate cost impact related to changes in design and construction strategy during project execution.
• Assist team with preparing cost information for funding requests
• Calculate and prepare material and work item quantities based on project requirements and specifications
• Perform material take-offs from 2D drawings or REVIT models to validate design and contractor proposed quantities
• Reviews bid documents to determine scope of work.
• Track estimate performance and accuracy.
• Develop cost estimated from high level rough-order-of-magnitude to definite estimates

What You’ll Bring

• BS in Engineering, Construction, Construction Management, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
• Capable of analyzing cost and schedule variances against the plan
• Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
• Strong customer service skills (effective communication with timely and supportive response).
• Ability to direct and manage external cost estimating resources
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of software systems, Oracle Unifier, P6, Power BI, Bluebeam, CAD, REVIT and other construction packages
• Comprehensive understanding of Work Breakdown Structure and Project coding
• Comprehensive understanding of cost estimating process and procedures
• 5-10 years of experience in construction cost estimating and pre-construction services: preferably in industrial, manufacturing, and/or high-tech industries
• Strong understanding of costing methodologies for civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, life safety and plumbing disciplines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $139,000.00 per year
