Description:

CF&T provides full-service high-grade turn-key installation of structural, site, and decorative concrete as well as full-service assistance with pump, place and finish throughout the greater Northern California area. Job Summary:
The Concrete Laborer will perform tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, and heavy civil construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, saws, drills, material pumps, small mechanical hoists, material handlers, surveying and measuring equipment and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May carry and transport materials and supplies. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, erect/dismantle scaffolding and shoring. May rake and rod concrete, consolidate and tamp concrete, and may clean up rubble and debris.

Reports to:
Foreman, Superintendent, and General Superintendent

Typical Duties:
Operate saws, jackhammers, and drills to break up concrete and pavement.
Place, rod, consolidate and protect concrete.
Clean and seal components such as concrete joints, walls, and flat work.
Shovel, spread and rake concrete and other materials.
Mix by hand or with portable cement mixers concrete and other materials.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
Spray materials such as water, cure, release, stain, paint or ither through spray guns.
Ten pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
Lubricate, clean and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices in confined and/or hazardous environments.
Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns
Assist with building and positioning forms for placing concrete followed by stripping and dismantle of forms after use with incorporation of saws, hammers, nails and/or bolts
Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Control traffic passing near, in and around work zones.
Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations and compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
Grind, scrape, or polish surfaces such as concrete.
Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery and tools and distribute them to appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
Measure, mark and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
Provide assistance to other craft workers, such as carpenters, masons, and operators.
Identify and pack materials

Activities:

1) Perform General Physical Activities: perform general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and handling materials. This job requires standing, kneeling and bending for long periods of time.
2) Handling and Moving Objects: using hands and arms in handling, installing positioning materials and manipulating things.
3) Controlling Machines and Processes: use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
4) Monitor Progress, Materials or Surroundings: monitoring and reviewing information from materials events or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
5) Using and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment: adjust and test machines, devices, moving parts and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electrical principles). Determine when tools are not functioning properly and are in need of replacement or repair.

1) Education and Experience: Currently registered in a union apprenticeship program or have completed a union apprenticeship program.
2) Language Skills: Must have an understanding of English as associated with jobsite safety and the typical duties required of the position

4) Reasoning Ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
