Job title: Concrete Finisher

Reports to: Concrete Foreman, Superintendent, and Trades Manager


Position Description:

Place and finish concrete and repair materials.


Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and perform concrete patching and repair.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees
  • Set and check forms that hold concrete to visually confirm proper construct for concrete placement and finishing.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures and embed in freshly poured concrete.
  • Use levels and laser levels to ensure proper grade, placement, and finish of concrete.
  • Place, spread, level, consolidate, and smooth concrete, use concrete pump, bucket, rake, vibrator, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float to perform work.
  • Apply curing, hardening, and sealing compounds and materials to concrete surface.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Inspect tools and power tools prior to use to ensure safe and working condition.
  • Assist with jobsite safety and quality programs as required (including daily participation in Pre-Task Plans). Comply with safety protocols and communicate effectively in emergency situations. Ensure Trade employees/subcontractors comply with Turner standards and applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security.
  • Must be able to comprehend verbal instructions, signage, and written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers
  • Operate equipment including forklifts and powered finishing tools as needed and with focus on safety.
  • Mix bagged concrete, grout, and repair materials per manufacturer instructions.
  • Prepare existing surfaces to accept repair materials.
  • Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools
  • Understand and perform finish of concrete.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
