General Description

Supervises the ERM Governance Office including the Enterprise Issues Management, Change Management, and other Enterprise Risk Assessments programs. Manages the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the regulatory change management, enterprise-wide issues management, and other enterprise risk assessments programs.
  • Support the development and execution of change management activities in partnership with the Subject Matter Expert and/or business areas, as appropriate. Collaborate with the team and key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and quality of assigned deliverables.
  • Monitor key risk indicators, identifying trends and root causes, and compliance with mitigation and remediation plans adopted by the business units. Support Management in the discussion of issue trends with the Business Units.
  • Design, develop and prepare reports and dashboards to measure performance across the organization.
  • Establish a common framework to govern the issues management process.
  • Prepare, generate, and provide the information required for Management and Board committees and the Senior Management Team and Executives materials by the required due dates.
  • Develop and conduct trainings to business unit on risk management topics and processes.
  • Develop ERM Governance programs policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Directly oversee and supervise the Risk Analysts and review the work conducted to provide direction and ensure the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Assess, evaluate, and make recommendations to Management regarding the adequacy of the controls for Popular, promote a strong controls environment and an issues self-identification culture.
  • Evaluate and support the implementation and configuration of a GRC tool to automate the change management process and manage other risk management processes for the Corporation and perform enhancements to the application as needed.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related fields

Experience

At least five to ten years related experience in risk management, preferably in banking industry. Must have experience in supervising and evaluating personnel.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications necessary to complete assigned tasks and projects.
  • Excellent project management and organization skills, including ability to handle multiple projects at the same time while attentive to details and effectively meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively with senior level management.
  • Advanced analytical and highly developed critical thinking skills.
