As a Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our facilities operate in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Responsibilities the position holds at Majestic Care:
  • Develops and periodically reviews and updates the Code of Conduct to ensure continuing relevance in light of changes in the needs of the Company.
  • Provides reports as directed or requested, to keep the Corporate Compliance Committee and senior management informed of the operation, effectiveness, resource needs and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Finance, Regional Leadership, Clinical Services, Legal, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Procurement, IT) to maintain shared, current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, enforcement focus areas, and best practices.
  • Establishes and provides direction and management of the compliance Hotline.
  • Provides education, decision support and guidance to the Companies regarding the Majestic Care and Bluegrass Consulting values and Code of Ethics in everyday situations.
  • Ability to see, with or without assistive devices, to perform assigned duties.
  • Master’s degree or other post-graduate degree in law or health-care related field.
  • Certification in health care compliance preferred. Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant regulations and standards of care.
  • Mathematical and numerical skills.
  • Develops, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities.
  • Provides departmental leaders with technical assistance to institutionalize compliance in their respective policies, procedures, job descriptions, performance evaluations, compensation programs, and educational materials.
  • Triages and responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct and directs compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Develops and oversees a system for uniform investigation, resolution, and trending of such reports.
  • Positive interpersonal relationship skills, including with persons of all ages and cultures.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate electronic computer/equipment.   • Communicates routinely with the General Counsel to resolve difficult legal compliance issues in a manner that reflects the values and ethics of the Majestic Care and Bluegrass Consulting.
  • Works with Procurement to ensure that independent contractors, vendors, and other agents working on behalf of Majestic Care and Bluegrass Consulting are aware of the requirements of the Code of Conduct and the compliance program with respect to coding, coverage, billing, marketing, privacy and security of protected information.
  • Conducts periodic risk assessment and identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops and implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing, role-specific training for all employees and managers.
  • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the Compliance Hotline; (b) awareness of the Code of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement.
  • Eligible to participate in federally funded health care programs.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including ability to create documents in various programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe).
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Manages the day-to-day governance and operation of the Compliance Program.
  • Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized government and third-party agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and relates activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness. What Majestic Care is looking for:Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of Company policies, procedures, and practices to maintain alignment with business objectives while also detecting and minimizing the risk of illegal, unethical, or improper conduct by all employees, contractors, vendors and other third parties.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.
  • Committed to compliant and ethical behavior with no propensity to engage in criminal, civil, and administrative violations.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Experience in dealing with compliance issues.
