Decisions about how Pacific Life interprets and applies legal, regulatory & consumer expectations into business processes and procedures result in consumer protections, financial strength, and competitive advantage. The enterprise-wide compliance and ethics program is built to meet those expectations and aspires to work within a defined and repeatable cycle that supports the business in achieving its goals. Program effectiveness properly aligned with enterprise-wide expectations is a foundational capability that provides the framework for long term business success.


Program Development
  • Global Privacy Program (reflects US, & international expectations in addition to HIPAA)
  • Work with compliance, law, and business SMEs to develop strategic, risk-based and documented compliance programs, including new, emerging and evolving topics for PL. Examples include:
  • Formalization and documentation w/in the Integrated Risk Platform
  • Structured 2nd line oversight programs that are designed to ensure sufficient role clarity (including delegated roles) for effective assessment, analysis, and validation of program design & execution activities.
  • Partnering with new divisions and/or line of business owners to document compliance procedures
  • Sales and Marketing Compliance Program,
  • Anti-bribery and anti-corruption
  • State specific compliance program requirements
  • Lead consistency efforts to effectively reflect uniform PL state compliance and ethics programs that apply across all business lines. Examples include:


Risk Pillar & Business Alignment
  • Coordinate with CCO and risk pillar leads to ensure seamless knowledge sharing and symbiotic benefits of program efforts.
  • Drive a mature program for meaningful engagement with the Integrated Risk Platform as the voice of compliance across all users.
  • Ensure compliance visibility and usage of the system is effective and efficient.


Risk Assessments and Maturity Initiatives


Risk Assessments are crucial to understanding the effectiveness and opportunities of each component of the compliance and ethics program.


  • Maintain appropriate documentation of program enhancements that support the Key Risk Review Team and Program Owners
  • Partner with program owners to conduct and document periodic risk assessments as appropriate for each component of the program.
  • Prepare analysis and results of risk assessments for various audiences including program owners, the Pacific Life Compliance Committee, Management Committee, and applicable Board reports.


The Experience You Will Bring


  • 10+ years of experience in the Insurance Industry including variable product experience.
  • Capability to generate recommendations to business & compliance program owners that reflect priorities and efficient resource allocation, addressing risks from key laws and regulatory schematics including State Insurance, SEC & FINRA.
  • Clear understanding of Pacific Life priorities and how our different business areas incorporate consumer protections and regulatory requirements into strategic and operational decisions.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of processes, policies, and procedures.

Base Pay Range


The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.


$125,400 -$156,700 - $211,600
