Companion Private Care Jobs

The Visiting Nurse Association is seeking Companions to provide assistance for our clients in the client home. A typical day will include assistance with everyday tasks that allows for independent living. Such services could include meal preparation, medication reminders, laundry, light housekeeping, respite care and/or escorting/driving clients for shopping, appointments and errands. The ideal candidate will be dependable and must be able to work independently to carry out the specific duties assigned in accordance with agency guidelines. DFWP EEOC

• Work under the direction/supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) Case Manager
• Provide companionship to the client by performing duties such as reading, talking, listening, related communication and

psychosocial activities

• Provide light housekeeping tasks such as meal preparation, dishwashing, laundering client’s personal garments, linen change,

dusting and vacuuming client’s room. Provide pet care if needed.

• Provide transportation to physician appointments, errands, community activities, etc
• Assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment and use/store equipment and supplies in a safe, appropriate
• Remind client to take self-administered medication

• Report accidents or unusual incidents immediately to the RN Case Manager, Patient Care Manager or Director
• Observe and report physical and mental changes to RN Case Manager, Patient Care Manager or Director
• Maintain a record of services by writing routine reports and correspondence.
• Inform Scheduler of changes in assignment
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain all protected health information (PHI) obtained in the course of work as confidential and,

as such, should not be a matter of discussion with co-workers or others outside of the Agency

• Comply with VNA policies and procedures; Follow VNA safety policies/procedures. Report accidents or unusual incidents

immediately to the supervisor and People and Culture

• Current automobile insurance per VNA requirement
• Must have high school diploma/GEDP
• Current and valid Florida driver’s license
• Attend required meetings and complete mandatory education by the department deadline
• One to three months related experience and/or training
