GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Community Relations Associate supports EDPR NA's community relations and grassroots efforts across North America's project communities.

The Community Relations Associate helps drive coalition building within project communities and local government institutions, enhancing the Company's image and reputation, and promoting positive, long-term relationships with those who live, work, or lead in EDPR NA's project areas. This person works closely with internal and external parties to create and implement grassroots outreach programs, promotes renewable energy and the EDPR brand, ensures social license to operate, and mitigates risks posed by opposition and misinformation. The Community Relations Associate works to identify proactive and reactive engagement opportunities within project communities and support their execution remotely and in-person. This role will also lead the organizing of project-level events and their logistics. This position has the option to be based out of our Houston, Texas Headquarters or any of our regional offices (Portland, OR, Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, or Overland Park, KS).


Main Accountabilities:

  • Supports the execution of proactive community relations strategies to optimally position EDPR Development projects and mitigate social risk
  • Serves as the primary manager of community relations-related purchases, invoices, and vendors
  • Monitors projects communities' sentiments toward projects and EDPR, flagging important shifts
  • Leads the logistics of EDPR's project-focused events, including wind days, project dedications, visitor tours, community events, and various landowner/stakeholder events. Includes handling program development, accommodations, site selection, venue set-up and breakdown, promotions, invitations, photography, decor, catering, and other responsibilities
  • Manages the creation of project logos, including the initial development in collaboration with an external design firm and project teams, any associated community engagement tactics, and the associated invoicing
  • Additional duties as required
  • Supports the creation of external-facing resources to aid Developers, such as issue fact sheets, stakeholder testimonials, look books, videos, email marketing campaigns, digital ads, etc. In collaboration with Marketing and Digital Communications
  • Assures all community-level branding, messaging, and communications work in consistent with global strategies and corporate policies
  • Supports the rollout, scale-up, and management of contracted development project Community Relations Coordinators
  • Collaborates with Development teams to execute community engagement plans which include grassroots and public relations strategies
  • Engages in reactive community relations needs as needed, including doorknocking, booting, phone outreach, media/social media monitoring, research FAQ development, etc.
  • Works closely with the Development and Operations teams, regional and local stakeholders, and external advocacy organizations to develop and tailor community relations efforts to be implemented across the entire Development and Operations portfolios, specific to each project
  • Track spending in accordance with the allocated budget

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in community engagement or organizing
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Understanding of Microsoft products required; understanding of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator preferred
