Job Description

PURPOSE

The Community Impact Manager pursues UWHC’s mission by mobilizing and deepening resources to enhance measurably improving the lives of vulnerable children, families, and individuals in Hancock County. This role is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with local non-profits, finding collaborative solutions to community issues, facilitating the UWHC grant allocation process and developing outside grant opportunities to bring additional dollars into Hancock County.

POSITION SUMMARY

COMMUNITY IMPACT (25%): KNOW THE COMMUNITY, DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS, SEEK SOLUTIONS

  • Monitor Hancock County social service priorities
  • Collaborate with community partners to maximize impact
  • Develop/manage relationships with local non-profits: UWHC partners and others
  • Support UWHC and community-focused committees and problem-solving groups
  • Coordinate informative stakeholder experiences to assist with advocacy and fundraising
  • Coordinate the involvement of diverse stakeholders (agencies, businesses, volunteers, schools, governmental bodies) for collective impact on community issues

INTERNAL GRANT LEAD (15%): MANAGE THE PROCESS TO DISBURSE UWHC FUNDS

  • Recruit, train and support the volunteer team that recommends funding allocations
  • Strategize, plan, communicate and manage the annual UWHC grant process
  • Measure UWHC impacts and results at the agency, program, and community levels

EXTERNAL GRANT WRITER (60%): TELL UWHC'S STORY IMPACTFULLY

  • Gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering, and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals
  • Deploy a strong knowledge of UWHC’s history, priorities, and programs
  • Meet proposal and reporting deadlines
  • Maintain quality submissions and strong results
  • Perform other essential duties

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability to create, grow and retain strong customer relationships
  • Strong problem-solving, creativity, and continuous improvement skills
  • Interpersonal skill in working with and motivating volunteers and others
  • Education/experience in writing, marketing, or public/social service administration/planning, are a plus. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent needed
  • Strong computer skills, with experience with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Initiative-taking with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects running simultaneously
  • Must have passion for UWHC's mission with a commitment to service
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and flexibly as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to listen effectively and solicit information from others
