Job Description
Communication Manager Family Building Blocks, located in Salem, Oregon, is currently seeking applications for the position of Communication Manager within their Development Team. This pivotal role plays a crucial part in upholding and executing the annual marketing strategy, plan, and calendar. The Communication Manager is responsible for creating and producing a wide range of printed and digital marketing materials, as well as overseeing web content related to fundraising initiatives and important program offerings. With a focus on social media, this role crafts engaging and impactful content for the organization's various accounts. Additionally, they provide support for branding and graphic design endeavors related to fundraisers, donor communications, parent and family outreach, and overall community awareness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Publications & Marketing Leads the implementation of a dynamic and creative marketing and communications plan to ensure increased visibility, brand recognition, and increases FBB's community presence; ensures consistency and coherence of FBB's brand, voice, and messaging across internal and external communications platforms. Initiates and leads workflow production timelines of marketing-related initiatives and assesses effectiveness. Leads the production of high-quality content, both copy and design, for print and digital audiences such as printed newsletters, annual report, e-newsletters, and e-blasts. Designs all marketing and print materials related to annual and special events, such event invitations, posters, signage, slideshows, etc. Maintains updated print and presentation materials such as slideshows, brochures, letterhead, business cards, thank you cards, and collateral materials. Writes and distributes press releases to media and coordinates photo opportunities. Assist in developing and managing annual marketing budget. Website and Social Media Manages and updates FBB website, ensuring content is relevant, interesting, and current. Designs and implements compelling, engaging, and timely content that will build engagement through all social media platforms. Utilizes platform analytics to develop a high-performing communication strategy. Other Manages relationships with outside consultants and vendors as appropriate. Maintains archive (online and print) for photos, videos, and print materials. Assists FBB Program Team in creating documents (flyers, certificates, banners, etc.) for program needs as requested. Supports recognition activities, such as annually updating donor recognition boards at all locations, designing and ordering recognition plaques and awards for staff and volunteers, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Associate degree in graphic design, marketing or related field or equivalent experience and training. Three or more years of related experience in graphic design, web platforms, public speaking, promoting, and marketing events and utilizing social media platforms. Strong project management, proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Demonstrated experience in creating compelling, on-brand messaging & content for social media and web-based platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, familiar in using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and able to learn new programs required for the position. Understanding and knowledgeable of principles of marketing and branding and ability to create compelling, on-brand messaging & content for social media. Possess excellent proofreading, spelling, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Possess excellent creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate and interact successfully with a wide variety of individuals and build relationships. Must be energetic, innovate, self-motivated, and able to handle stress and remain calm. Committed to work well with a high-performing team charged with serving multiple priorities and deadlines to achieve goals and support the mission, values, and vision of FBB of serving families and children. Ability to contribute to a positive and professional atmosphere at FBB and promote caring, calm, and respectful interactions with families, children, volunteers, interns, and staff of Family Building Blocks. Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude and work independently with little guidance in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must maintain discretion and respect the confidentiality of information about volunteers, donors, enrolled families, personnel issues, and other program operations. Requires ability to work early morning, evenings, and weekends, local travel between locations, events, and sites to generate content required. Possess a valid Oregon Driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation. An employer-paid pre-employment drug test is required. Successfully pass a criminal conviction background check. Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in graphic design, Marketing or related field Experience with children's programs, non-profit organization and/or volunteering Background in development and non-profit sector.
