Purpose


The Commodity Manager leads and collaborates closely internally with a cross-functional team to build commodity strategies and then implements to achieve desired goals and initiatives. In addition, this position is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with direct material suppliers to deliver products that consistently meet or exceed supplier performance goals and evaluates how the relationship fits into the overall supply objectives. In this role, you will be encouraged to think creatively and come up with innovative ways of doing things. You will develop a complete understanding of the global supply base and related cost drivers for specified commodities.


Responsibilities


In this position, you will have responsibility over sourcing strategies deployed globally to enable best-in-class service, cost, quality and working capital returns.


  • Works closely with cross-functional areas of quality, value management, engineering, marketing, operations, and finance to ensure alignment and execution of action plans, maximizing the company’s goals while minimizing overall internal risks.
  • Establishes the vision of the commodity(s) through development of objectives and strategies.
  • Adherence to compliance and department standard work.
  • Shared support to other Commodity Managers and team members to build foundational systems and business process knowledge needed for career advancement.
  • Initiate RFQs for new product development (NPD) and engineering change activities and award business per strategy.
  • Performs special projects, stretch assignments, ad-hoc management requests and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manages supplier on time shipping/delivery (OTS/D), rejected parts per million (RPPM), business practices, lead time and PPAP approval metrics.
  • Implements cost saving initiatives using various approaches such as: value management, bidding, analytical modeling, supplier development and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma).
  • Supports related cross-functional supply chain activities.


Education & Experience


  • Travel required: 10%-15% domestic travel and possibly up to 10% international travel.
  • Demonstrated experience with commodity or supplier strategy development and deployment required.
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools (Lean or Six Sigma).
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient use of SAP (or equivalent ERP), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). Experience in Smartsheet and Power BI reporting are preferred.
  • Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a cross functional team setting.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • CPSM or APICS certification is preferred.

Hiring Range: $70,200.00 - $110,330.00
