Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Decatur is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Cold Mill Mechanical Technician. Responsibilities include the execution of a reliability-based maintenance program to ensure optimum performance of Cold Mill equipment as well as to develop and implement projects for continuous improvement. Position will be on rotating shifts to provide coverage for the steel making equipment. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have associates degree in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance, a related technical field, or 4 years Industrial Mechanical Maintenance experience consisting of welding various metals, fabrication equipment, precision machine alignment, industrial hydraulics, gearing, pumps and valves.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy industrial maintenance or steel making experience
  • Mechanical maintenance and repair experience associated with overhead cranes
