As a member of the healthcare team, the Coding Specialist I will support the importance of accurate, complete and consistent coding practices for the production of quality healthcare data.

• Hospital or medical facility coding experience in an acute care environment preferred.
• The Coder I should be proficient in coding diagnostic outpatient and emergency room cases applying the correct ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, and CPT codes and modifiers and strive for optimal reimbursement.
• Requires excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communications with medical staff, peers, management and other hospital personnel.
• This position may also support the thorough review of emergency department documentation to validate/adjust the ED E/M level and post charges for any billable procedures.
• High school education. Health Information Technology degree preferred.
• The Coding Specialist I will have the ability to float to different coding areas as needed within these defined case types.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) credential must be obtained within 12 month of hire.

This is a 100% remote position.
