Summary
Schedule & Location:
Part-Time: 40 hours, biweekly
4 days per week
Remote work opportunity
:
Under general supervision, collects, reviews, retrieves and codes Evaluation & Management services, Pathology, and minor procedures based on documentation in the medical record and reports for quality assessment, audit, and billing purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs chart audits, reviewing for accuracy and compliance.
- Reviews operative reports and other documentation and assigns appropriate diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT) for final billing.
- Research and processes invoice corrections.
- Reviews and analyzes coding/billing procedures.
- Presents training and feedback concerning medical coding, compliance, and reimbursement to physicians/providers.
- Coordinates and implements reimbursement improvement activities with staff and providers.
- Adheres to WellSpan Coding Compliance Guidelines.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, and HCPCS; basic computer skills
- Certified Procedural Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC), or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P)
- Minimum Experience:
- 6 - 12 months
- Minimum Education:
- High School or GED
- Required Certification:
- Certified Procedural Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC), or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P)
- 6 - 12 months
- Skills:
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, and HCPCS; basic computer skills
- High School or GED
