Role Description
A Manager is in charge of overseeing the day-to-day activities of a specific
department, shift, including organizing the work schedules of employees to ensure production deadlines are met. A Manager must possess a solid understanding of the responsibilities of the Leadman or Leadmen in their department or location. The Manager is also responsible for participating in employee recruitment, providing job training and development, and addressing employee performance, safety, health, and disciplinary matters.
Education, Experience, Required Skills
Completion of high school or equivalent
At least 5 years of experience in the CNC Machining Industry and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in related manufacturing.
Proficiency in mathematical calculations and measurements
Independent and self-motivated
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills
Exceptional supervisory skills, including training, guidance, and disciplinary actions.
Familiarity with company health, safety, and environmental policies
Extensive knowledge of production processes and equipment in the department or shift under their supervision.
Authority And Responsibility
Gives priority to promoting safe work practices and maintaining a safe environment for the staff.
Supervises Leadmen and laborers to ensure that all employees under their supervision adhere to appropriate PPE usage and work in a safe manner.
Develops weekly production and labor schedules for the department or shift, and oversees the completion and submission of production forms and other necessary paperwork to ensure accuracy.
Collaborates with the Maintenance Department to coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs.
Procures necessary supplies and materials to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the department.
Supervises and mentors Leadmen/ Zone Leaders to ensure accurate and safe completion of all tasks.
Addresses performance, safety, and other related issues that may require disciplinary actions.
Reviews, maintains records, approves, and makes recommendations regarding employee requests for PTO, vacation, personal leave, etc. Ensures timely submission of correct information to payroll.
Completes all ERP Entries and daily reports and inspections on time.
Programs equipment and interprets drawings as necessary
Collaborates with sales, engineering, and quality departments as needed.
Inspects and ensures that all shipped parts meet customer expectations and specifications prior to delivery.
Supports Continuous Improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing
Physical Requirements
Ability to ascend and descend stairs and/or ladders multiple times during each shift
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day
Ability to wear PPE, including a respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, and uniform, for up to 10 hours per day, if necessary
Capable of lifting heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Must be available to work extended hours, as required
