Position Overview
The Veterans' Nursing Assistant - Certified (VNAC) are responsible for caring for the veterans that so bravely served our country. The ideal candidate will be a caring and compassionate individual who will engage in the residents' time served in the Military and learning from their experiences. In addition, the VNAC's will play a vital role in the mission of creating and maintaining a unique atmosphere of the highest levels of resident wellbeing and harmonious work environment for staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs nursing assistance and personal care services for residents with physical and/or mental impairment
- Performs the following treatment measures as directed by clinical staff
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
- Continually inspects and checks residents in the assigned areas to ensure comfort and safety
- Performs routine straightening and organizing of the residents’ units
- Performs effective infection control practices utilizing universal precautions in resident care
Minimum Qualifications
- This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title
- Requires successful completion of an Illinois approved Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program consisting of a minimum of 120 hours of instruction which shall include at least 80 hours of theoretical instruction and 40 hours of clinical practice
- In compliance with section 340.1376, of the Illinois Administrative Code, requires inclusion on the Illinois Department of Public Health Nurse Aide Registry
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to remain in good standing in the IL. Department of Public Health/Health Care Registry
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
- Requires a valid Driver’s license
- Requires the ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 LB. unassisted
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen and physical
- Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
- Requires the ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Requires the ability to pass a background check
