About the Role:
We seek a Senior Cloud Security Engineer with in-depth Amazon Web Services (AWS) knowledge. Our Cloud Security Engineer is a development-focused security position, building tooling and automation for the public cloud. You will build robust cloud security auto-remediation tools to enable fast and secure development of customer-facing services. You'll be responsible for ensuring the architecture and operation of our cloud systems are secure and compliant, protecting our resources and data from potential threats.
You will work on the Cloud Security Engineering Team. You will interface with various security, development, and infrastructure teams of talented individuals at Nu Skin, a global and publicly traded company.
What you'll do:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST 800-xxx/CSF, SOX, PCI, GDPR).
  • Own a set of internal services which ensure security policies and best practices in a cloud environment.
  • Analyze cloud architectures and services to identify risk and propose solutions to prevent, reduce, or mitigate exposure.
  • Proactively research and evaluate new security technologies for potential adoption.
  • Contribute to maintaining a backlog, prioritizing work, project planning, and developing future state architecture.
  • Support broader InfoSec teams to automate their workflows, reducing the manual toil in their positions.
  • Mentor team members, guiding their development efforts and helping them create robust and scalable solutions.
  • Support the SOC in response efforts to cloud-based security incidents, guiding investigations and post-incident reviews.
  • Be available as a cloud security subject matter expert, providing consultation and recommendations to many internal teams.
  • Conduct training and provide guidance on security best practices for technical and non-technical staff.
  • Conduct security assessments of cloud environments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigating strategies.
  • Design, develop, and implement secure cloud architectures and solutions to meet the company's needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement security measures for all cloud-based applications and data.
  • Act as an IAM administrator sculpting cloud permissions sets to enable employees’ access to cloud-based resources adhering to the principle of least privilege.
  • Analyze cloud architectures and make recommendations to enhance system security.
What you'll need:
  • Understanding of configuration and runtime security controls.
  • Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST).
  • Experience securing data at rest and in transit (including authorization, logging, alerting).
  • Have a mindset of security being an enabling organization instead of a limiting one.
  • Programming: Python (classes, functions, data types, SDKs, packaging, data parsing, and data manipulation), Shell and Bash scripting.
  • Creating and working with containerized workloads.
  • Security experience in the following areas:
    • Balancing preventative, detective, and responsive controls with the business’s needs and operating model.
    • Deep understanding of authentication and authorization, including cloud IAM and OAuth 2.0.
    • Intermediate network security understanding and experience.
    • Perform and understand risk assessments; identify gaps in current process and procedure and propose risk mitigation or reduction changes.
    • Have a mindset of security being an enabling organization instead of a limiting one.
    • Experience securing data at rest and in transit (including authorization, logging, alerting).
    • Basic understanding of cloud encryption services, such as AWS KMS.
    • Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST).
    • Understand various compliance frameworks and regulations, such as PCI-DSS, CIS, GDPR, NIST 800/CSF, SOX, etc., and make implementation recommendations.
    • Understanding of configuration and runtime security controls.

  • Deep understanding of authentication and authorization, including cloud IAM and OAuth 2.0.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cloud security role (AWS experience preferred).
  • Intermediate network security understanding and experience.
  • Extensive engineering experience in the following areas:
    • Programming: Python (classes, functions, data types, SDKs, packaging, data parsing, and data manipulation), Shell and Bash scripting.
    • DevOps: Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, backend infrastructure, cloud, serverless.
    • Architecture: Event-driven systems, distributed microservices.
    • Working with REST and GraphQL APIs.
    • Creating and working with containerized workloads.
    • Interacting with databases programmatically and through ad-hoc SQL scripts and statements, including basic database administration and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understand various compliance frameworks and regulations, such as PCI-DSS, CIS, GDPR, NIST 800/CSF, SOX, etc., and make implementation recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • DevOps: Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, backend infrastructure, cloud, serverless.
  • Perform and understand risk assessments; identify gaps in current process and procedure and propose risk mitigation or reduction changes.
  • Interacting with databases programmatically and through ad-hoc SQL scripts and statements, including basic database administration and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of cloud encryption services, such as AWS KMS.
  • Balancing preventative, detective, and responsive controls with the business’s needs and operating model.
  • Working with REST and GraphQL APIs.
