The ideal candidate passionately believes that security is best implemented by automating preventative, low-friction guardrails, and can patiently guide customers to this ideal state. In addition to proficiency in the areas described below, those who will excel in this role have the willingness and ability to jump in and learn quickly, along with exceptional diagnostic and problem solving skills. He or she is comfortable working with a diverse set of technologies and can move between them quickly, and has a strong customer service focus.
Job Responsibilities
As a Cloud Security Engineer at ScaleSec, you'll work directly with ScaleSec customers to meet their security needs within the cloud, including remediating any identified security and compliance gaps within cloud environments.
What you'll do:
- Analyze logs and ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting are in place and effective for responding to potential security incidents
- Identify and address non-compliance with established baselines and standards
- Remediate insecure and misconfigured cloud resources
- Create secure infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) to deploy, manage, and remediate existing resources within the cloud environment
- Implement and train teams on the usage of security best practices
- Follow architectural and security best practices for cloud configurations
- Work hands-on with teams such as cloud operations, devops, incident response, platform, product, and application teams to protect and manage cloud environments
- Support developers ensure insecure resources are not provisioned or configured
Required Education
High school diploma, GED, or comparable military duty required

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Associate-level cloud architect certification for AWS or GCP
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience managing an enterprise cloud environment
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS or GCP
- At least 2 years of experience in an information technology role
- 1-2 years experience reading, writing, maintaining cloud infrastructure with Terraform
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience utilizing or maintaining an IaC CI/CD pipeline and policy enforcement
- Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and/or remediating cloud resources
- AWS and/or GCP professional cloud architect or security specialty certifications
- Understanding of common cloud network infrastructure, including firewalls and security groups, routing, VPNs, and DNS within the cloud
- Experience with Python scripting to automate manual processes
- Security+ certification or similar

Base Pay: $90k - $115k
