Cloud Engineer - 100% Remote

JOB OBJECTIVE:

This role will be essential in aligning our cloud technology choices and direction to the vision of the Ministry. Focusing on cloud computing architecture costs/benefit analysis to determine technical, operational and financial solutions. Analyze technical products and systems; design and recommend sound solutions based on industry standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Use Critical Success Factors to design the solutions and Key Performance Indicators to evaluate the solution. Works closely with the Enterprise Architects to establish standards and implement processes related to cloud architecture. Acts as an advisor to other Practice Area Leaders and Management during annual planning to help determine cloud solutions and costs.

Responsible for development, design, implementation, and analysis of technical products, systems, and services for an Enterprise class IT Infrastructure and Cloud Technologies. Analyze, design, develop, and implement Enterprise Information Technology solutions to support the IT Service goals of the organization. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within three or more of the following Engineering specialties: Enterprise-class Computing operating systems and hardware, Enterprise Storage systems, Data Protection and Recovery, Virtualization, Internet Technologies, Messaging, Management Systems, and basic security principles. Although not a management role, the role includes offering exceptional mentoring and advising skills; much of their work will require the ability to influence successfully and mentor as opposed to directing and mandating.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. Analyze, design, configure, test, and administer in three or more of the these specialty areas: Virtualization and/or Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Technologies, Azure or AWS or other CHP.

2. Perform role as Subject Area Expertise and lead technical teams on new implementations, technology redesign and issue resolution efforts.

4. Drive strategic technical change for the organization through written position papers, and proof-of-concept engagements.

5. Ensure cloud processes are defined, followed, and creating appropriate value

6. Provide daily support relying on experience, industry best practices and good judgment.

7. Resolve complex issues and record status via ticketing system application.

8. Perform cost benefit analysis on proposed technological systems.

9. Document systems and procedures.

10. Ensure systems modified or introduced into the Production environment are monitored via enterprise NMS.

11. Develop standards in the technologies, practices and methodologies utilized within the organization

12. Recommend and facilitate IT solutions that add value to the organization.

13. Keep abreast of the emerging technologies that benefit the ministry and organization.

14. Participate in and conduct business analysis for various IT projects, as assigned or determined.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

1. B.S. Engineering or related degree, or 8-12 years’ experience preferred

2. Required Certifications for Computing Platform: VCP

3. Demonstrated experience in Azure AD multi-tenancy and experience in the design, deployment & migration in large & complex production environments.

5. Knowledge and experience with Cross forest trusts, FSMO roles, GPO structures, multiple site configurations

6. Knowledge and experience with VMware virtualization and High-Availability solutions

7. Knowledge and experience with Dell and EMC hardware

8. Demonstrated expert level troubleshooting and analytical skills

10. Must communicate at all levels within the organization both verbally and in writing

11. Establish and maintain Vendor Relationships that add value to the organization

12. Demonstrated knowledge of current and developing technologies and ability to analyze technology for use in the current environment

13. Must be able to work independently and/or as part of a team

14. Flexible with ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
