Job Overview


The Clinical Nursing Informaticist plans, reviews, and leads all activities and functions of clinical transformation for Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO). The Informaticist drives transformation through careful analysis of metrics, data, and current processes and workflow; the utilization of change management strategies, and leveraging available resources. The Informaticist also partners with external and internal stakeholders to assists in the design of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) and to build consensus around the process, workflow, and content for Clinical Application Services (CAS).

Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Typically Monday - Friday 8am - 4/5pm
Weekend coverage for end user support is required quarterly, and advance notice is given for planning.

Qualifications

  • LICENSURE – Current Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • EDUCATION – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Master of Nursing Informatics preferred.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) – Must obtain American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Clinical Informatics certification within 18 months of hire.
  • EXPERIENCE – Five years of clinical nursing experience providing direct patient care in an acute care setting (clinical experience other than nursing will be considered in addition to nursing experience; i.e. CA, RT, etc.). One year of change management, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement and/or data analyst experience. One year of leadership experience in a hospital committee and/or nursing shared governance preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Leads the development of clinical transformation strategies through the use of CIS technology and participates in organizational strategy development for CHCO.
  • Support the super user programs within all clinical areas, serves as a sounding board members within the super user program and attends the entire monthly super user meeting.
  • Utilizes internal and external resources to maintain up to date knowledge of current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, training techniques, regulatory standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholder to coordinate the strategic changes determined by the clinical leadership/executive team and Information Systems (IS) leadership.
  • Leads the analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of clinical information systems, processes, and structures.
  • Assesses and analyzes proposed information technologies to improve management of clinical data related to nursing and associated discipline practice.
  • Provides timely and high quality technology, project management, and change management consulting services.
  • Plans, organizes, and assists in CAS implementations and actively participates with implementation team(s) during installation of new computer functions or enhancements to existing functions which impact diagnostic and clinical areas.
  • Identifies variation in processes and constructs the required representative team in order to develop the steps of the redesign process and put in motion-an ongoing effort to reduce variation.
  • Partners with physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, find and implement solutions, and communicate the findings to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates and presents system functions and capabilities to visitors and other audiences, presenting the leading edge and comprehensive nature of CHCO systems.
  • Supports multiple clinical systems go-lives across health system, including weekends and night shifts. Serves as a clinical informatics expert, and resource for staff.
  • Develops and revises informatics policies and procedures based on system design, workflow reengineering, and input from end-users.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $77,116.90 to $115,675.35
Hourly Salary Range: $37.08 to $55.61
