What will I do as the Clinical Educator?


  • Develops and maintains process for implementation and tracking of campus wide nursing annual mandatory education.
  • Assess, plan, develop and coordinate resident, family, and community education on current health and disease management topics.
  • Obtains and or develops effective training material using a variety of media. Evaluates all nursing training program for effectiveness.
  • As directed, assists the Director of Nursing in the development, review, revision and implementation of nursing department policies, procedures, job descriptions and evaluations.
  • Maintains files of lesson plans and attendance for all programs taught to employees and ensures training records are retained per company policy.
  • Plans, conducts or arranges for yearly 15- hour RA/SA in-service and in-service on federal and state regulations and facility needs in collaboration with Director of CBRF AL, Memory Care Manager and Director of Catered Living.
  • Coordinate site approval and clinical rotation for nursing and nursing assistant students (i.e., schedule for students, develop ongoing relationship with local universities and Tech schools) where applicable.
  • Maintains certification as nurse aide training program primary instructor.
  • Plans, conducts, or arranges for yearly 12- hour certified nursing assistant in-service and all nursing staff in-service on federal and state regulations and facility needs in collaboration with DON.
  • Evaluate in-service training and development programs that maintain and enhance nursing employee's clinical skills as well as leadership skills of other line staff.
  • Has working knowledge and ability to apply standards of professional nursing practices in job situations. Can assist in developing nursing policies and procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care. Can establish criteria to assure that services provided meet established standards of quality.
  • Maintains department budget.
  • Coordinates/Trains CBRF classes.
  • Develops and maintains process to make continuing education programs available to all campus nursing staff.
  • Develop education for new initiatives, areas identified in plans of correction, changes in policies or regulatory requirements and other programs as needed.
  • As directed, implements/assists with the implementation and training of workplace safety programs in the facility, including hazardous communication, occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens, workplace safety issues and fire/disaster preparedness.
  • Develops and maintains clinical orientation training program for new (facility) staff, including orientation to facility policies, procedures, philosophy of care and regulations that govern long term care.
  • Develop annual nursing training calendar for campus.
  • Maintains calendar of CBRF classes available
  • Develop and deploy training assessment tool to identify training needs for nursing campus staff including nurse leadership team.
  • Develop and maintain status as an AHA Training Site for CPR and First Aid.
  • Conducting Certified Nursing Assistant classes 4 times per year (quarterly) and as needed.
  • Identifies essential competencies in collaboration with campus wide leaders for licensed and non-licensed staff. Collaborates with campus wide leadership team to develop annual skills/education fair.


What is required in this position?


  • 5 + years' experience working with the senior population and knowledge of regulatory compliance and continuing care retirement community operations; prior staff development or program development experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state, federal and licensing regulations.
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with resident, families and other employees at all levels.
  • Remain current on training and instructional methodologies, including applicable technology resources available.
  • Maintains certification as CBRF Certification trainer.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and require minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains certification/qualifications to be a C.N.A. instructor.
  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses. Must possess a current WI RN license and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Able to conduct training and education on all shifts.
  • Computer knowledge: Proficient with Microsoft Office.
