Ucf Restores


UCF RESTORES is a nonprofit clinical research center and treatment clinic established to change the way posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related concerns are understood, diagnosed, and treated. UCF RESTORES’ first-of-its-kind approach to treatment – including a highly successful intensive outpatient program – combines evidence-based individual exposure therapy, virtual reality technology, and group treatment sessions to help those suffering in the wake of trauma.


The Opportunity


The University of Central Florida UCF RESTORES is seeking qualified candidates for a Clinical Case Coordinator position. The Clinical Case Coordinator is a clinical case manager for patients associated with clinical research (UCF RESTORES). This position will be engaged in both administrative and clinical facets of the center, serving as the point of contact for clinic operations. As the Clinical Case Coordinator, this individual will track patient treatment details and handle all referrals to the clinic ensuring that the overall care for the patient is handled efficiently and effectively. This includes crisis intervention, partnering, and coordinating with external agencies to ensure continuity of care. Additionally, this position serves as the HIPPA Privacy/Security coordinator for the clinic, reviewing all clinical operations with respect to compliance with HIPAA standards. This position has responsibility for interfacing with other agencies/individuals seeking patient health records and corresponding with agencies/legal entities seeking records. Finally, this individual may represent the clinic on public boards or task forces.


Responsibilities


  • Follow Florida state mental health laws with respect to the duty to warn, initiate and complete Baker Act paperwork and notify legal authorities to assist with involuntary hospitalization when necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide daily updates regarding referrals to the UCF RESTORES Directors.
  • Create and maintain the clinic policy handbook for UCF RESTORES that outlines all policies and procedures as it relates to clinical operations. Serve as the administrator for the electronic health record system.
  • Serve as the HIPAA Privacy/Security Coordinator for the clinic, which includes establishing privacy and security policies, updating policies, preparing for HIPAA audits, and monitoring employee compliance with all HIPAA policies.
  • Serve as a community liaison to other public or private behavioral health agencies within the area, serving on boards or committees as the representative of UCF RESTORES. Establish a network with community resources to develop a list of potential community resources for additional services not currently offered by UCF RESTORES.
  • Serve as the liaison for all aspects of patient record disclosure, including requests for patient records. Review all patient records requests for compliance, contacts requesting authority for non-compliance or lack of appropriate signatures for disclosure, release records consistent with HIPAA and Florida mental health law and keep track of all requests and responses to requests.
  • Serve as a supervisor for social work/mental health interns/medical students doing educational training rotations at UCF RESTORES.
  • May perform other clinical or administrative duties as requested.
  • Serve as initial contact for all patients referred to UCF RESTORES for clinical eligibility for services provided by UCF RESTORES and partnering care facilities/services. This may include assistance with financial planning, and finding additional support or educational programs. Track and monitor all activities/services associated with each patient. Develops discharge planning for each patient.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Must keep all counseling information confidential as prescribed by Florida law and professional ethics and standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations, Florida Laws, and UCF Policies as they pertain to the use and disclosure of confidential mental health records.
  • Ability to request and process sensitive information. This often includes being in communication with patients experiencing mental distress.
