Job Description

Are you an experienced Claims Specialist with a legal background looking for a new opportunity? If so, read on!


We are an industry leading specialty insurer who focuses on healthcare professional and product liability. We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Claims specialist with a strong legal background.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor, defense counsel, and the client throughout the claims process.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving reasonable legal expenses and fees associated with the claim file, adhering to established guidelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Attend trials, settlement conferences, mediations, and insured meetings, and recommending settlement strategies when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and direction to defense counsel regarding settlement values, defense tactics, and strategies in alignment with department guidelines.
  • Prepare reports for management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing claim information.
  • Attend and participate in negotiations when needed.
  • Maintain proper file documentation of assigned files by complying with company and state requirements.
  • Actively engage in review processes to evaluate liability, assess case value, and oversee reserving functions and total claims costs.


Requirements:

  • Experience with Professional Liability preferred.
  • Ability to travel.
  • 2+ years of experience in the legal or medical field.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
