Job Description
Our Childwatch program is seeking applicants to provide exceptional customer service to our Family Membership holders including children. Night and weekend availability is required. The Childwatch program provides care for children while their parents are working out in the facility.


Position Summary


This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Appropriate activities should be providing for growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development. By conducting him/herself in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner, this position is a role model for children and adults.


Essential Functions


  • Knows and abides by YMCA policies, facility policies, accident/incident reports, code of conduct, etc.
  • Provide a warm flexible, engaging environment for children and families.
  • Keep safety of children as a first priority-with emphasis on an atmosphere that is family friendly, age-appropriate, inclusive, and conductive to a quality driven environment.
  • Maintain daily attendance records.
  • Supervise children and assume accountability for all children in care
  • Arrive to work on time and in proper attire.
  • Attend all YMCA staff meetings, Departmental meetings and staff trainings as assigned
  • Works as a team player, supporting co-workers and supports the mission of the YMCA in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment at all times.


Work Environment And Physical Demands


  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate

  • Must be at least 16 years old

  • Previous experience providing classes/programs/activities for youth a plus
