Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Based on Qualifications

Department/Organization: 208185 - Brewer Porch Children's Center

Normal Work Schedule: Varies dependent on facility needs with weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Job Summary: The CNP Food Preparation Assistant is responsible for food preparation and ensuring safe and nutritious meals are served.

Additional Department Summary: The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Food Preparation Assistant is responsible for food preparation and ensuring safe and nutritious meals are served. Responsibilities also include keeping the food service area clean in accordance with federal, state, and county regulations, and maintaining required paperwork. This position will also assist with preparing menus that comply with NSLP (National School Lunch Program) and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) guidelines.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work both independently and with team members. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the materials, tools and supplies of the job. May be required to work on-call in emergency situations. Must obtain and maintain Servsafe certification.
Must be able to stand for long period of time and sustain working condition temperature changes hot and cold, from freezers to kitchen environment during food preparation and service. Must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds and transfer extremely hot service dishes.
Final candidates who are not current Brewer-Porch Children's Center employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Excellent communication public relations, customer service and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task and work well with a team in a fast-paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercise utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in client/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver high-quality client-friendly service. Punctuality and reliability are paramount.

Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience in the school nutrition food service industry. Experience in preparing and serving food in large quantity.
