Child Care Teacher - Summer 2023

Casey's is looking for a full-time Child Care Teacher to work at our Ankeny, IA, Store Support Center on-site Child Development Center this summer. As a Child Care Teacher, you will be responsible for the daily care of an assigned group of children, planning developmentally appropriate activities, and maintaining the environment in accordance with program objectives. You will ensure compliance with established policies and procedures within assigned program area.

As an Child Care Teacher, you will also:

• Attend staff and parent meetings, as required.
• Plan, prepare, maintain, schedule, and supervise developmentally appropriate learning centers and activities to meet weekly objectives.
• Help maintain a fun, interactive classroom that is clean, organized and a child-safe environment.
• Attend to personal and physical needs for assigned group of children.
• Perform general care and specific daily interactions with assigned group of children.
• Follow all licensing guidelines and company standards to ensure the daily care of every child.
• Maintain regular observational and developmental records for each child.
• Attend conferences related to the childcare field, and acquires the necessary hours as stated in the state licensing guidelines.
• Maintain daily communication with parents concerning their child's behavior and development.

Our Child Care Teachers work four 10-hour days each week between the hours of 6:40 am - 5:35 pm.

This is a temporary position starting on Monday, 6/5, and ending on Friday, 8/11.

• Effective written communication skills.
• Creativity, compassion, and professionalism are a must.
• Associate’s degree in Child Development or related field or equivalent experience is required.
• Annual Universal Precautions training.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, especially relating to children.
• First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Fun and enthusiastic attitude are required.
• Constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
• Exceptional patience and ability to remain calm at all times.
• Excellent creativity used in developing children's programs.
• Mandatory child abuse training class.
• Strong working knowledge of childcare and development.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Prior experience in a child-care setting.
