Job Description
Georgia Bulldogs Sports Marketing (GBSM), a joint venture between LEARFIELD and JMI Sports, is the local, dedicated entity representing the University of Georgia. In complete collaboration with the University, GBSM is committed to extending the affinity of the University of Georgia brand to businesses and corporations of all sizes looking to align with the undeniably loyal and passionate collegiate fan base.


As the Georgia Bulldogs' exclusive multimedia rightsholder, GBSM manages all aspects of the rights relationship. Providing corporate partners with traditional, digital and other non-traditional media opportunities to bolster their own brand and garner maximum exposure through assets such as IP, venue signage; digital engagement including social media, the official athletics website and original content; event sponsorships, activation and promotion; corporate hospitality; television and radio broadcasts.


GBSM is seeking a Chief Operating Officer with extensive corporate partnership, sales operations, new media and administrative experience. The Chief Operating Officer oversees the New Media and Partnership Services teams at GBSM, actively collaborates with the property's Chief Revenue Officer and sales team, and serves as the primary point of contact for UGA Athletics.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities


University Relationship


  • Attend weekly/monthly meetings with UGA athletics as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Jointly track and report revenue & budget updates to UGA stakeholders
  • Jointly prepare for and lead bi-monthly revenue meeting with UGA Director of Athletics
  • Serve as primary liaison between GBSM and University of Georgia Athletics
  • Develop and steward key relations with UGA campus administrators


Partnership Services & Sales Operations


  • Work games and events as assigned to execute and monitor sponsor promotions and activities
  • Assist in the development and execution of creative concepts across all verticals (digital, traditional, etc.)
  • Manage and supervise the Partnership Services team
  • Support in the development of new assets and partner ideation, and secure necessary approval for new assets/ideas from University
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Actively collaborate with property CRO to maximize new business opportunities, clear new categories/assets, improve partner retention and ensure a white-glove experience for GBSM corporate partners
  • Coordinate with sales, facilitating and gathering all materials needed to fulfill sponsorships and provide timely proof of performance reporting
  • Attract, develop, and retain Partnership Services staff


Internal Operations & Administrative


  • Assist with key corporate initiatives (NIL as an example)
  • Oversee management of GBSM office in Athens, including serving as primary contact for the property management company
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments such as Partnership Solutions, Digital, Content, Broadcast, Finance, Sales Acceleration, and Strategy & Innovation
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Management of GBSM vendor relationships


New Media Oversight


  • Ensure coordination between New Media team and UGA Athletics, and execution of digital/social/original content initiatives
  • Assist in attracting, developing, and retaining Partnership Services staff
  • Overall management of the New Media team and annual New Media budget
  • Management of OAS and app vendor relationships
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Foster on-going collaboration between the New Media, Sales and Partnership Services teams in an effort to maximize revenue and partner retention


Broadcast Operations


  • Ensure execution of radio and TV broadcast programming, including content and sales initiative
  • Oversight of the GBSM radio network
  • Oversight of radio broadcast team talent
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Oversee broadcast budgets, talent agreements, travel, scheduling, etc.
  • Manage both radio & TV broadcast partner affiliate relations & sales operations


Knowledge, Skills & Experience


  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong management experience and coaching skills
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and listening skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint & Excel
  • Minimum 10+ years working in sponsorship or related field
  • Self-motivated and highly dependable with the ability to work independently or collaborate to meet department goals
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Sports Management, or related field
  • Currently living in or willing to relocate to Athens, GA
  • Experience in or general knowledge of sales tactics, client relations & new media
