REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
DEPARTMENT: Technology Services Group (IT)
FLSA STATUS: Salary, Exempt
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide vision, strategy, and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. The CIO will direct the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations, delivering effective technology solutions that will improve service quality and customer satisfaction, while enabling business growth and development. This individual will have overall responsibility for all aspects of enterprise business applications, end-user computing, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Planning
- Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
- Develop, track, and control the IT annual operating and capital budgets.
- Ensure systems and processes to protect company and customer data in line with evolving data privacy regulations.
- Identify opportunities and develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives across DTG.
- Build an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of DTG.
- Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
- Establish and maintain cybersecurity standards aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity framework.
- Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
- Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
- Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the DTG senior management team.
Technology Acquisition & Deployment
- Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
- Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems.
- Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Approve, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.
Operational Management
- Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
- Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
- Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
- Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
- Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
- Establish lines of control for current and proposed information systems.
Data Management & Insights
- Align with business stakeholders on data requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Provide business insights and analytics to inform business decision making.
- Develop a master data strategy and governance model.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have demonstrated best-in-class competencies and leadership experience in an enterprise-wide IT role. They must have strong skills in strategy, effective program and process execution experience. They must be well-versed in software and hardware rollout initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements that relate to IT and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
- Strong understanding of management principles, practices, and procedures.
- 12 -15 years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT operation.
- Good understanding of system integration, including API integration
- M&A integration experience.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft suite including Business Central and Power BI.
- Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including cloud and SaaS technology.
- Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
- Proven leadership and change management abilities.
- Considerable knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and operations.
- Expertise in enterprise system planning and execution.
- Waste / Recycling industry experience is a plus.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or related field. Master’s degree in similar or related fields preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficiency in English with bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel is required up to 20% of the time, both locally in the Seattle Metropolitan area and other locations where DTG facilities exist.
- Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
COMPENSATION
The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package that includes an annual salary, benefits, etc. The annual salary is $230,000 to $280,000.
